This page contains a detailed version history for Granny in chronological order. The original mobile changelogs can be viewed on the Google Play Store and App Store. PC changelogs can be viewed on the Granny Steam announcements page.

Headings will use the version number of the Android updates, as it has the longest history and number of updates. Information about their equivalent version numbers on other platforms will be provided before listing update information.

Version 1.0.5[]

Granny's first minor update, published on Android November 30th, 2017. This was also the first version released on iOS, published December 11th, 2017 as version 1.0.

  • Darker mode has been added as an optional setting in the main menu.

    • Objects will no longer stop creating noises for extensive periods of time when knocked over.

Version 1.1[]

Granny's first major update, published on Android January 3rd, 2018. An iOS release followed on January 4th, 2018.

  • There is now a cellar in the back of the house, accessible from the bedrooms' walk-in closet or the basement.
  • There are new items: a weapon key, a crossbow, tranquilizer darts, and a screwdriver.
  • Granny can now be temporarily neutralized.
  • Added easy difficulty.
  • Bug fixes.
    • Granny's walking/running animation was remade to look smoother and less awkward.
  • Minor adjustments.
    • Drop physics were changed, allowing the player to throw items with much greater horizontal velocity.
    • Granny's baseball bat now uses a different texture. (her ragdoll's bat still uses the old texture)

Version 1.2[]

Granny's second major update, published on Android February 12th, 2018. An iOS release followed on February 13th, 2018.

  • There is now an attic, accessible from a new door across from the player's bedroom.
    • The player can now be knocked out by falling through the broken floor above the foyer.
  • Added hard difficulty.
    • There is another lock on the front door, unlocked by using the battery, a new item.
  • There is now a painting in the basement (outside of hard mode), which can be assembled to earn a bonus day.
  • Bear traps can now be disarmed by dropping an item on them or shooting them with a tranquilizer dart.
  • Granny's now has fully-modeled legs under her dress.
  • The options menu has been redesigned and is no longer a separate button on the main menu, instead being found in between the Play button and tips screen.
  • Minor adjustments.
    • There are more spots for items to spawn now.
    • Several objects have had their textures darkened, namely the table in the player's bedroom, Granny's baseball bat, and the plywood cover in the basement.
    • The cellar's is no longer brighter than the rest of the house, now matching the overall subdued lighting.
    • The microwave now shoots out sparks when opened. It also makes a louder noise, but still does not attract Granny's attention.

Version 1.3[]

Granny's third major update, published on both Android and iOS March 30th, 2018.

  • There is now a backyard, accessible through the dining room window or a new passageway connected to the basement.
  • New items: a melon, a playhouse key, and two cogwheels.
  • Added extreme difficulty.
    • There is another lock on the front door, unlocked by a hidden switch in the backyard.
  • Some easter eggs can now be found.
    • A crib has been added to the attic in the room connected to the prison cell.
    • If the player drops the Teddy (a new item) into the crib, they can summon Slendrina.
    • There is a message in the tunnel underneath the backyard written by one of Granny's previous victims.
  • Bug fixes.
  • Minor adjustments.
    • Granny's texture now has more pronounced shading.

Version 1.3.2[]

Granny's second minor update, published on both Android and iOS April 25th, 2018.

  • Changes to game over cutscenes:
    • The original death scene in the basement now uses a quieter, creepier ambient track.
      • Before, it was an edited version of a copyrighted violin song from the 2011 horror movie Insidious.
    • There is an alternate death scene where Granny decapitates the player with the guillotine in the backyard.
  • There is a secret ending involving Slendrina and Teddy, seen when escaping after performing the easter egg added in the previous update.
  • Extra locks is now an optional setting, allowing the player to get all 7 locks from extreme on any difficulty.
  • Extreme difficulty is now even harder.
    • Creaking floors are larger and can no longer be avoided.
    • There is a new creaking floor right beside the staircase at the top of the cellar.
    • The passageway between the cellar and basement is now blocked off. Combined with the new creaky floorboard, this makes it exceptionally easy for Granny to corner the player in the cellar.
  • Granny's house has been completely retextured to have higher contrast and less color saturation, overall making everything look much grittier.
  • Bug fixes.
    • The player can't get stuck in the wall between the basement and backyard tunnel as easily anymore.
    • The player can no longer grab the cutting pliers through the safe without opening the door .
    • The player can no longer crouch and stand up next to the backyard door to clip through it.

Version 1.4[]

Granny's fourth major update, published on Android May 29th, 2018.

  • There is now a garage located at the very bottom of the house, accessed by a new staircase behind the basement staircase.
  • More ways to defend yourself against Granny.
    • Inside the garage is a sauna. Granny can be lured inside and the door barred off. If the steam is enabled for long enough, she will be knocked out.
    • A shotgun can now be assembled on the garage workbench.
  • New items: three parts of a shotgun and a car key.
  • Bug fixes.

Version 1.4.0.1[]

Granny's third minor update, published on both Android and iOS (as version 1.4) May 30th, 2018.

  • The options menu now uses the correct background from version 1.3.2 (it was mistakenly reverted to version 1.3's background).

Version 1.5[]

Granny's fifth major update, published on both Android and iOS August 22nd, 2018.

  • There is now a second attic located above the first, accessible by a sliding wall next to the coffin.
    • Granny now owns a pet spider which guards the cabinet in the second attic.
  • The player can now escape from the garage with the car.
    • The garage door is now locked and the wall behind it has been replaced with plywood.
    • Items inside the hood of the car have been moved to make room for the engine.
  • Now there is a practice difficulty, allowing the player to explore the house without Granny (but not without danger).
  • More items: an engine part, a wrench, a spark plug, a car battery, a gasoline can, a special key, and meat.
  • New easter egg: the player can now find the body of Slendrina's mother behind a bookshelf.
  • The shotgun knocks Granny out for longer, making it more balanced with the crossbow.
  • Granny's house has been completely retextured to have higher contrast and less color saturation, overall making everything look much grittier.
  • Bug fixes.
    • The player now spawns in the same spot when leaving beds, coffins, or the car, instead of returning to their original position. This makes it impossible to move out of the range of the aforementioned objects without disabling the button to hide in them, meaning the player can no longer teleport to hiding spots from anywhere in the house.
      • This also fixes the zombie glitch seen by falling through the attic and hiding/unhiding after hitting the ground.
      • This also fixes the glitch allowing the player to regain control of movement during game over cutscenes and witness their own death.
    • The player can no longer grab the hammer through the car's trunk without unlocking it first.

PC Version 1.0[]

This was also the first release on Steam for PC, published November 20th, 2018 as version 1.0. It featured multiple additional changes.

  • The menu was completely redesigned, now being realtime 3D instead of a pre-rendered background.
  • There are new settings available on the menu.
    • Texture quality can be swapped between low, medium, and high. Low is approximately equal to the texture quality of the Android releases, with medium being approximately equal to the texture quality of the iOS releases.
    • Advanced video effects (ambient occlusion, depth of field, motion blur, color grading, chromatic aberration, and vignetting) can be toggled.
  • There is a new intro cutscene that plays upon starting the game.
  • Darker mode can no longer be toggled off and is completely replaced with a new mechanic: the flashlight.
    • The house is now pitch black with the exception of the flashlight, which diminishes in effectiveness at a distance, simulating the fog seen in darker mode.
  • Bug fixes.
    • The player can no longer rotate the camera inside the car in wild directions by flicking it to the left/right when hitting the garage wall.
    • The player can no longer fill the gasoline tank without opening the trunk of the car first.
    • Small objects are less likely to fall through thin walls and floors.
  • Engine improvements.
    • The entire game was reprogrammed in C#, allowing it to be compiled in a newer version of the Unity engine.
    • There is a new splash screen.
  • Minor adjustments.
    • Several of the textures that were darkened in 1.3.2 were reverted to their textures in 1.3. Whether this was intentional or not is unknown, as it was done rather haphazardly and has a complete lack of consistency in what did and didn't get changed.
      • Interestingly enough, the textures for the second attic were given the opposite treatment, as it used the brighter, more colorful texture style of 1.3 in all mobile releases.
    • Some of the textures that lacked high-resolution equivalents were completely changed. (includes the table in the player's bedroom, Granny's baseball bat, wooden chairs, the fan in the jail cell, and the engine part)

Version 1.6[]

Granny's sixth major update, published on both Android and iOS December 11th, 2018.

  • Quality settings are now available.
  • Added a new optional nightmare mode.
    • The walls, floors, and ceilings of the house are coated in copious amounts of blood, Granny's appearance is changed, and her bear traps are replaced with a more "organic" variant.
  • The menu has been re-rendered to match the PC version's menu, but is still 2D.
  • Another new alternate death scene has been added where Granny crashes into the player with the car.
  • Granny's spider has a new model that moreso resembles a brown recluse rather than a tarantula.
  • Pepper spray can now be found and used as a nonlethal defense mechanism against Granny.
    • The closet under the staircase is now locked by the remote control, another new item.
  • Granny now wears a Christmas hat.
  • There is a Christmas tree in Granny's hall.
  • Bug fixes.
    • The player can no longer fill the gasoline tank without opening the trunk of the car first.
  • Engine improvements.
    • Includes all improvements from PC version 1.0, but the splash screen was shortened.
    • The game now utilizes IL2CPP as a backend, improving the app's general security and reducing the ability for ad-removing mods to be created. (Android only)

PC Version 1.1[]

This was also the first update on Steam for PC, published December 20th, 2018 as version 1.1. It retains most of the differences that PC version 1.0 had over mobile version 1.5, plus a couple of extra additions and changes.

  • Some of the textures that were changed in version 1.0 are reverted to their mobile textures. (everything except the jail fan and the engine part)
  • The Christmas tree lights up the entire room it is in, making it unique in being one of the only light sources in the house: the other two being the player's flashlight and the table lamp in the backyard shed.
  • Nightmare mode has been substantially improved. Walls that are coated in blood now reflect light, appearing wet and sticky, making it much more believable that they are covered in blood.
  • Granny has two additional pet rats on nightmare mode only. While not directly harmful, they can bite the player if they are stepped on, alerting Granny and interfering with the player's vision.

On January 15th, 2019, the game was silently updated to remove the Christmas decorations and Santa hat from Granny's head. The version number was not incremented.

Version 1.6.1[]

Granny's third minor update, published on both Android January 21st, 2019 and iOS January 22nd, 2019.

  • Ported the two pet rats from the PC version.
  • The Christmas decorations and Santa hat have been removed.
  • Changed scripting backend to Mono2x again after community backlash. (Android only)
  • Bug fixes.

This update was not released on PC as it already contained all of these features.

Version 1.7[]

Granny's seventh major update, published on Android March 12th, 2019 and iOS March 13th, 2019.

  • A second, much older (and presumably abandoned) house is now connected to the main house, and can be accessed through a metal grate found in the backyard, or a fake wall in the cellar's meat closet.
  • Granny has a new pet: a raven that guards an item which has been placed in its cage, located in a corner of the new area's top floor.
  • Granny's car now uses a different, much higher quality model. Most notably, it is now possible to see through the windows which were previously opaque.
  • A new weapon can be used to defend against Granny: the Freeze Trap.
  • Granny no longer locks the door to the player's bedroom on day 2.
  • Bug fixes.

PC Version 1.2[]

This was the second update on Steam for PC, published March 21st, 2019 as version 1.2. It retains all of the differences that PC version 1.1 had over mobile version 1.6.1, as well as the new content from mobile version 1.7.

  • The water in the flooded basement of the old house is dirtier and overall looks more realistic: it uses a special shader and has bump mapping, as opposed to the mobile version, where it is simply a translucent sludge texture.

iOS Version 1.7.1[]

Granny's fourth minor update, published on iOS March 29th, 2019. Curiously, this version was never published to Android, making it the first and only update to be iOS exclusive.

  • The game no longer freezes when escaping with the car on practice mode.
  • It is no longer possible to clip or "glide" through the planks blocking the old house crawlspace.
  • Fixed a problem that would result in "Maybe I can use one of the planks." to get stuck on the screen indefinitely if a plank was placed over the hole in the attic while the text was still visible.
  • Fixed a glitch with the freeze trap.
  • Other minor bug fixes.

Version 1.7.2[]

Granny's fifth minor update, published on iOS April 4th, 2019. It was backported to Android on April 8th, 2019, also featuring the bug fixes from the previous update, 1.7.1.

  • The crickets heard in the backyard are much quieter, no longer drowning out most other noises.
  • The bug causing the bloody vision from day 4 onwards to disappear when stepping in bear traps or getting bitten by rats has been fixed.
  • Other minor bug fixes.

Version 1.7.3[]

Granny's sixth minor update, published on Android April 18th, 2019 and iOS April 23rd, 2019.

  • Yet another new alternate death scene was added, where Granny drops the player from the attic into a bear trap on the ground floor.
  • Fixed another glitch with the freeze trap.
  • The game now uses the IronSource advertising backend.
    • There is now an advertisement banner at the top of the main menu.
    • An additional video advertisement appears between days 4 and 5.
